Frequently Asked Questions

  • Kinwise Coach is an AI-powered coaching tool designed to support your growth as a teacher between formal observation and coaching cycles. You interact with Cindi, Kinwise's AI coaching agent, through a structured four-phase conversation — Reflect, Listen, Focus, and Action — to identify one area to work on and make a concrete plan. There are three ways to engage: describe or upload a lesson plan before you teach (Plan mode), talk through what happened in your classroom after you teach (Talk mode), or record a short segment of classroom audio and get coaching based on what Cindi heard (Record mode).

  • Cindi is the name of Kinwise's AI coaching agent, the conversational coach you interact with inside the product. She is designed to feel like a thinking partner, not an evaluator. She asks questions, reflects back what she heard, and helps you identify one specific technique to try. She does not score, rate, or assess your teaching.

  • No. Cindi is not connected to any formal observation or evaluation system. Nothing you share with Cindi is reported to your principal, administrator, or district. Your sessions are private to you. You control what, if anything, you choose to share.

  • No. Record mode is optional. Plan mode and Talk mode do not require any recording. During our current pilot, we are asking teachers to use Plan and Talk modes as their primary entry points and to obtain school approval before using Record mode.

  • our audio is sent to AssemblyAI, our transcription provider, which converts it to text and then automatically deletes the audio file within 48 hours. The transcript and coaching session remain in your Kinwise account until you choose to delete them. You can delete any recording, transcript, or session at any time.

  • Only you. Your recordings are associated with your account and are not accessible to other teachers, administrators, or Kinwise staff in the normal course of operations. Kinwise employees do not listen to classroom recordings.

  • No. Neither Kinwise nor AssemblyAI uses your classroom recordings to train any AI model. We have opted out of all AssemblyAI data-sharing programs.

  • Yes. Like any AI system, Cindi can misread context, miss nuance, or suggest something that doesn't fit your classroom. Treat her feedback as a starting point for your own reflection, not a definitive diagnosis. If something doesn't feel right, trust your professional judgment.

  • No. Cindi is designed to extend coaching support between formal coaching cycles, not to replace a human coach. She can help you reflect more frequently and consistently, but she does not replicate the relationship, judgment, or expertise of a skilled human coach.

  • Cindi is an instructional coach, not a therapist or counselor. If a conversation moves into personal or emotional territory outside of teaching, she will acknowledge what you've shared and gently redirect toward instructional support. If you are in distress, please reach out to a trusted colleague, administrator, or mental health professional.
